Sewing has always felt like a natural, grounding part of who I am; a thread connecting me to my roots and to something deeply human and joyful.

I carry that legacy forward with a heartfelt mission: to inspire children, young people, and adults to create with their hands, build confidence, and discover the magic of making.

My personal love for sewing began in childhood, sitting beside my mum as she crafted sunshine costumes for the Brownies.

I’ve been fortunate that creativity runs through my family for generations. My gran, full of a passion for flower power and sparkles, travelled everywhere with a bag of wool and knitting needles. Make do and mend was more than just a slogan to her; it was the mantra she followed throughout her life.

Since I started my teaching career in 2000, I have been drawn to supporting learners from all backgrounds and ages.

Whilst working in a high school, I was deeply affected by how many young people were navigating emotional crises; overwhelmed by testing and aggravated by pressure from social media. 

Here at Stitch Work Studios, students are encouraged to slow down, learn new skills and techniques, play with colour and texture, and make connections with themselves, others, and their creativity. I want every maker to feel seen, valued, and free to express who they are.

Stitchwork Studios is about so much more than sewing; it is about nurturing the whole person through creativity, culture, connection, and care.
